Hey everyone!

Summer vacation is right around the corner. It’s a super fun time in Europe.  Therefore, I bring to you the tip of one of the most talked about places with a breathtaking scenery, Dubrovnik. This is the  most charming medieval town of Croatia, which is called “The Pearl of the Adriatic”.

Dubrovnik is small, beautiful and very old. They say it was founded in the 7th century and some decades later became important route of maritime commerce. After that, it suffered a lot with war and with the domination of other people. However, it did not lose it’s grace. It is fully walled, has white streets, amazing churches in various architectural styles, monasteries, palaces and fountains. Dubrovnik was restored with the help of UNESCO and the European Union, of which it forms part since it became independent from former Yugoslavia in 1991. It is a relatively recent tourist destination despite being so ancient, because before the region lived in conflict, you could not visit. It is now a paradise.

You can explore the whole city in a day. However, it is impossible to leave quickly. I stayed three days and would wouldn’t mind staying another week. Start the visit by walking the city walls which is around two kilometers. The view of the Adriatic Sea is incredible, makes you want to stay there gazing at it forever.  Then, walk through the main street, Stradun. It goes from the Pile Gate to Ploce Gate and the eyes can hardly believe what they are seeing: Source of Onofrio, Franciscan Monastery, Column of Orlando, Church of São Brás, Sponza Palace, Palace of the Rector, Cathedral. Everything so well taken care of and so full of life. Amazing!

To see the city from up top, go up by gondola to the top of Mount Srd. What is interesting is that on one is Dubrovnik perched on the beautiful deep blue sea, and on the other side of the mountain is Bosnia and Herzegovina. Also be sure to take a boat tour of the islands around the city. Lokrum, for example, is less than a kilometer from the port and is beautiful.

At the end of the day, during sunset, the Indian Restaurant Nautika, with outdoor chairs and mediterranean cuisine is the place to be.  Another great tip is the hotel. I stayed at the Pucic Palace Hotel, within the walls, I highly recommend it.
