Leather and its numerous possibilities of usage!
With different forms of working with it, the material gains handmade wefts in paintings, embroidery of different textures in brocade fabrics, prints, patchwork or 3D applications, responsible for bringing the artistic touch to the pieces.
Camila went for a total leather look with a tulle dress and a classic jacket, which gained textured sleeves and fun details throughout by the Brazilian designer expert in leather, Patricia Vieira. The trick of styling is to bring feminine elements to balance with the rocker essence of the piece.
On the runways, brands such as Gucci, Burberry and Alexander McQueen went for leather with an upgrade of applications during the past few fashion weeks.
Leather, usually very connected with winter, was elevated to the status of a statement material of the coming seasons, appearing with elaborate proposal of in rich details, ranging from leather straps applied to the sleeves to textured graphics throughout the entire piece, as did Fausto Puglisi in his 2016 Autumn/Winter collection.
On the color palette, the traditional black gains highlight, but earthy shades and total white also plays a role.
An interesting curiosity is the emergence of the practice of embroidering the backs of the jackets – and this has a historic touch:
After the World War II, an American military asked that a symbol of war was to be embroidered on the back of his jacket by a Japanese tailor and, soon after, other soldiers started to embroider eagles and flowers on their pieces for the military campaigns. From that moment on, it started the production of embroidered jackets.
The effect was gaining luxurious craft work and today they result in articles of desire! In addition to bringing fashion information to a classic piece, the details in drawings bring an innovative and super cool touch.
The delicate proposal presents the material not only in different shapes, but with precise finishes and textures in handmade techniques – as embroideries and paintings, for example – able to bring the urban rocker concept under a very feminine perspective.
The jacket chosen by me and by Camila is part of the Patricia Vieira’s Summer 2017 Collection, with pieces that received the paintings of the artist Kláucia Badaró, reproducing roses, flowers and hearts.
The result was a custom piece which brings to fashion an artistic cutout, carrying historical references to the fashion universe.
An item that goes beyond the trends of the season, able to bring original touch to any look!
