It is amazing how often we choose items or details and we give them the favorite of the season title – and we can’t stop using them. Recently, I have chosen the sleeves with ruffles near the wrist, which are being such a success among fashionistas. It is super cool, which also plays with the contrasts of the silhouette and gives motion. Moreover, I usually refer to them as “elongated sleeves”, because they also help to define the waist.

The nice point of the trend is the ability to innovate in different ways of dressing and matching. The shapes change and suits different styles. Here, Camila and I represent two different universes, but with a focus on elegance. With her off the shoulders blouse – and the blue stripes do not deceive the boyish touch! Note the volume of her sleeves. The contrast is what makes the outfit, the straight model of the top gives new aesthetics to casual-chic with jeans. As for my outfit,  the blue shirt is the absolute protagonist. The perfect match was the white clochard which made the overall ensemble super sophisticated.

In international runways, some brands have strongly invested in various proposals to give even more charm to the sleeves. In different proportions, Delpozo and Christopher Kane presented various versions. The first opted for volume in shirts that are true pieces of desire. The sleeves resemble an evolution of formats used during the period of Romanticism (but without a lot of lace). On the other hand, Kane played around with the idea to deconstruct the modeling and created the “ruffle” effect in 3/4 sleeves.

The Isabel Marant followed the spirit of marked shoulders and invested in an 80’s vibe with the sleeves.

The longer the better! Without a doubt, this was the thought of Palmer Harding for its 2018 Resort. The fists exceed centimeters from their ideal point. The result? Super cool! I also liked the combination of the stripes. As opposed to the long, Alessandro Michele followed the wave of slimmer and straight sleeves but with bold shoulders.

Ready to wear one of these styles? There are several ways to incorporate it with your style and give even more fashion information to your look. Regardless of the shape, it is important to choose good allies to balance the overall ensemble.
