Even though good seasons have passed since their first signs, the urban style remains a strong reference for what is seen on the runway and beyond. Remember when crop tops paved the way for a number of other short lengths, including jackets?  Know that the movement is steady for the next seasons. And not only with the idea of leaving skin on display, as it was worn in the 1990s, but creating overlays in a cool way. Camila and I have invested in the trend and we have adapted to other prominent movements in fashion. While Camila bet on a 2-piece set with a jacket and trousers of the same material within the sports aesthetic, I chose the version with varnished bomber modeling to overlay a monochromatic look. Different proposals that prove how cropped jackets are able to move between different occasions and styles.

In the collections presented during international fashion weeks, creations and styling combinations to keep an eye on. In Jeremy Scott’s always fun and daring show, a set – consisting of cropped jacket and miniskirt – appears in a military green tone covered with words in contrasting and unobtrusive colours. For Sally LaPointe, the jacket was not a separate piece, but its shape was part of the trench coat on mint green, leaving lapels highlighted on the model. Notice how these overlapping cutouts leave the monochrome look modern and elegant.

In Tom Ford’s eighteenth century, the cropped jacket appears in a shiny velvet bomber shape, making a fashionista counterpoint with black tailoring pants. Within the rocker universe, stylist Anthony Vaccarello explored pointed shoulders and a dry and straight modeling for his mini jacket.

In an all jeans mood, Tibi brought a match of cropped jacket wide on the sides and sleeves + high waisted pants in a chic and minimalist casual outfit that fits very well with everyday looks. Victorian in appearance, Alexander McQueen presented an off-white option with a touch of tailoring to finish off the production that also features a white broderi chemise and pants with slightly frayed hems – but with impeccable cut!

Good ways to inspire and transform the cropped jacket into a perfect ally to wear all year round. See how there are ways to adapt the piece to the heaviest winter looks and make it even lighter on warmer, sunny days.
