Fall 2019 has many exciting trends to test out, but one of the biggest trends this season is also the most low-key. Known as the “bourgeois” trend, this movement celebrates personal taste and styling over must-have items. It highlights an elevated take on minimalist dressing and includes pieces meant for everyday dressing, like pleated midi skirts, suiting, coats, plaid prints, and button-down shirts.
Key accessories for this trend include pieces like silk scarves, neutral-colored leather belts, and structured handbags. You can dip a toe in this trend pool with the simple addition of a checkered skirt or blazer, or dive in completely with a head-to-toe plaid suit, silk scarf, and camel leather top-handle bag.

Heritage brands like Celine, Louis Vuitton, and Dior featured this trend as one of the stars of their Fall ’19 runway shows, but contemporary brands like Tibi and Staud are embracing it with open arms as well. Even fast fashion brands like Zara and Mango have tons of affordable options for under $100 right now, so whatever your budget is, you can find bourgeois options to add to your wardrobe.
