In quarantine times we are socially isolated and confined at home. A tremendous incentive for reflection and an invitation to cross kilometers without leaving the sofa. At this time, culture comes to fill empty spaces with nobility. We have the good company of books, films, series, dance shows, circuses, museums, plays and so on. So, enjoy the moment and CULTURE YOURSELF!

GOOD BOOKS are great companions. I point out José Saramago’s sensational romance novel, “Analysis of Blindness”, which tells the story of a city that collapsed when it was hit by an epidemic of blindness. Another excellent book for this moment is the best seller “Arroz de Palma”, by Francisco Azevedo, which brilliantly addresses the story of a Portuguese family who immigrated to Brazil in search of a better future.

TWO BEAUTIFUL SPECTACLES from the Deborah Colker Dance Company that you can watch for free on the website are “Belle” and “Cão sem Plumas“. The first is inspired by the novel Belle de Jour and tells the story of the bourgeois-married Séverine who, to fill her existential void, spends her afternoons in a rendevu where she goes by the name of Belle. Incredibly sensual! Cão sem Plumas is dense and reflective. It addresses the strength of the riverside population of Pernambuco, which lives on the margins of poverty.

VIA STREAMING watch or review the three seasons available on Netflix for the tense series La Casa de Papel that shows a super robbery at the Mint in Spain plotted by a group of strangers. Have everything fresh in your memory because April 3 premieres the fourth season. It is super awaited!

CIRQUE DU SOLEIL is making available on the Cirque Connect platform free of charge the performance of the show “Kurios” that recently premiered, as well as excerpts from other presentations such as “O” and “Luzia”. It can also be seen on YouTube. You cannot miss it!

SOME MUSEUMS with beautiful collections, which are always full, can now be visited virtually from the sofa in your home, free of charge. My favorites: Louvre, Vaticani Museum, Uffizi Gallery, British Museum, Metropolitan Museum. Don’t miss the chance to color your day with art!

I hope you enjoyed the tips from this cultural trip on the couch. Stay at home and take care of yourself! This nightmare will soon be over and we’ll be able to hug again. Together we are stronger.
