I imagine you’re out of your minds wanting to travel. (Just like me!). And I also imagine that as soon as all this passes the first “possible” places will be the closest to us, the less crowded and those surrounded by nature. Brazil has incredible corners that fit perfectly into this format.
Have you ever heard of Ibitipoca State Park in Minas Gerais? It’s a mountainous place, full of waterfalls the color of Coca-Cola and lots of green. To stay in the region I suggest the Comuna do Ibitipoca hotel, which occupies the old headquarters of a Fazenda de Engenho and has been restored with respect to both history and the environment. It has few accommodations (which is essential in this resumption) and that irresistible Minas Gerais food. Another highlight are the trails, one of which, the Tatu Trail, ends in gigantic works of art created by Karen Cusolito for the Burning Man Festival. This is a secluded and divine place!
If your preference points to a quiet little beach, then take a look at Kenoa Resort, in Barra de São Miguel, 30 kilometers south of Maceió. Pure charm! It is an eco-chic design hotel, right on the sand, on one of the most paradisiacal beaches in northeastern Brazil. It has only 23 super tasteful accommodations, discreet luxury and a Caudalie spa perfect for relaxing. The hotel has already received several awards. It’s worth the experience!
The third one that I will recommend is rustic and has the strength of the Amazon Forest, where it is located. Cristalino Lodge was born in the 90s, with a pioneering project for environmental preservation, in a RPPN (Private Natural Heritage Reserve) of Alta Floresta, on the border between Mato Grosso and Pará. The lodge has only 18 bungalows, fully inserted in the local context. It is so special that it has been named as one of the 25 best lodges in the world by National Geographic, and received the acclaimed Ashoka award. It is no small thing!
