One of the favorite winter trends of the moment is plaid. It remains absolute in the streets and runways in modern and sophisticated versions. After all, it is impossible to escape this pattern and its thousand and one options and combinations. They work for all styles and occasions.

During the last fashion week here in São Paulo, Camila and I matched patterns from Gloria Coelho’s 2017 Winter Collection. Camila’s choice was a chemise with a side slit and a belt with hanging loop. The super modern touch, in addition to the style, was the combination of the overlay with white pants (Attention: dress + pants is a strong trend). Not to mention that it was the perfect color to break the neutral look. As for my outfit, I chose a turtleneck top in the same plaid pattern as Camila’s.

In international grounds, maxi traces, black and white and a mixture of various patterns. Junya Watanabe brought a punk vibe for his runway, in a dress with bulky sleeves, ruffles and heavy accessories full of attitude, with fishnet tights, monk shoes and rocker-like chokers.  With structured shoulders, Antonio Marras’ coat was the key element of this super feminine look with pleated skirts in a mix of prints and lace up pumps.

With influence in the hip hop atmosphere, Marc Jacobs gave the pieces a certain light-weight touch – only in the color cards. In lighter shades, between yellow and earthy, the coat with a fur collar is an essential item to renew the urban wardrobe, even so, with pantyhose making the turn of the pants and boots. As for the always sophisticated Bottega Veneta, chic mixed orange and green lines on its midi coat.

Missoni played with lots of colors in a youthful version of the “American chess”. Check out how the pattern transformed the coat; if it were monochrome, perhaps it would be too “heavy” for this look. The harmony of gray is repeated in the cropped jacket, on the skirt with slit and over-the-knee boots. Super cool!

What’s your favorite plaid style?!
