Last week I told you I was coming to the Morocco to celebrate my birthday. The country was an old dream of mine, but by life’s curves, something would always come up when I tried making plans to go. Finally my dream became a reality and indeed I think that I am dreaming awake, because Morocco is much more than I could imagine.
My welcome gate was the Marrakech Airport. This was the first surprise. Modern, illuminated, wonderful and quiet. In the exit of the lobby, a little sign with my name announced the first destination of the trip: Kasbah Tamadot. A nice guy drove me 45 kilometers toward the village of Asni. In less than an hour I was at a true refuge in the mountains of the Atlas. Can you imagine that Kabah Tamadot means “gentle breeze”. And you know what else? What an amazing hotel! Does justice to the name, softness and elegance are its brand.
Do you remember what a Kasbah is? I have done a post telling you about these typical fortifications of the south of the country that were made to shelter people from the cold, heat and attacks of enemies. Many of them have been restored and now function as hotels. This is the case of the Kasbah Tamadot. The property has been compared by the Richard Brason “Midas” and has the Virgin Limited Edition label. Imagine a place where you don’t want to leave for anything! The hotel is full of inviting corners. You cant imagine the magic that it emanates.
There are only 28 accommodations, being that 10 of them are very luxurious Berber tents, which are super well decorated and respecting the local tradition. I stayed in one of these tents that have huge rooms with sitting areas full of colorful cushions, super cozy beds with thermal linen (because it’s warm during the day and very cold at night at this time of the year, the temperature varies from 8 to 30 degrees in the blink of an eye), private bathroom with all those gifts that everybody loves, hats on the bed to be used during the stay and a babouche as a gift for each guest. On the balconies, there are swimming pools with hot tubs, sun loungers and a super view of the High Atlas Mountains and the berber villages. It is jaw-dropping.
Breakfast is served in a lovely terrace on an outdoor infinity pool’s edge. Furthermore, the hotel’s cuisine is fantastic, with all those tasty Moroccan dishes (tangia, tagine, couscous, etc.) and the spa? Wonderful. It has a huge swimming pool, hammam and a great menu of massages. Of course that the choice should fall upon those made with Moroccan argan oil. It leaves the skin and hair so amazing.
My debut in Morocco was the best possible. I have spent unforgettable days in the Kasbah Tamadot, which was elected as the best hotel in North Africa and the Middle East by Travel Leisure magazine in 2017..
Have a super peaceful week.
