From the Runway to StreetStyle: Square Neckline

Fashion seasons are rich in information and different ways of facing the same trend. For the Summer and Winter 2018 seasons, a strong similarity draws attention in the necklines. Note that the square format, which is one of the classics of the Romanticism, Renaissance period – and a little more exaggerated in the Rococo – gains space on the catwalks and streets, bringing a dash of urban attitude.

It lengthens the neck and gives that touch of elegance to the measure, regardless of the piece. In Camila’s look, the Dior outfit has a princess cut in the bust, bringing a romantic and girlie touch. As for the look that I wore in Fortaleza, the salopete model dress has front buttons that leave the piece with vintage feel, while the grid print brings the modern geometric prints.

In various collections, a profusion of aesthetics reveal different ways of bringing the square shape. In Anna Sui, the blouse has cute little sleeves and a line below the bust with a certain volume that resembles the clothes of the eighteenth century – but of course, all the contemporaneity of the piece is due to the shorter shape and fringes in the hemline. Following the same spirit, Maria Grazia Chiuri created a dress with application of laces in strategic regions, maintaining volumes in the sleeves (with slight buff effect) and well marked waist.

Sticking between the Italian breasts and the classic sensual silhouette of the brand, Dolce & Gabbana explored lateral drapes in transparent fabric and straps that resemble underwear elastics. In Carolina Herrera, a lady like reloaded version. The monochrome dress proposes two layers of ruffles at the waist and hip, which give movement to the model with trim in very sharp/straight lines.

Covered by floral print, the piece presented by Rodarte is closed, plays with volumes of ruffles on the sides and leaves only the cleavage with skin in evidence. As for Cushnie et Ochs, much joy in building the pattern of artsy florals and in the vibrant orange-tone straps, in a model that outlines the curves perfectly.

A myriad of ways to wear a trend on a daily basis – your way.

XoXo, Alice.
