If it is the sixth smallest country in the world, you can imagine that it is quite small! For Liechtenstein, it is hidden in the Alps, between Austria and Switzerland and can be smaller than the neighborhood of Barra da Tijuca, in Rio de Janeiro. But that does not mean that it is left noticed, after all, it is one of the richest countries in the world. And do you know what they produce? cheeses and wines, as well as being a tax haven. Ah! Want to know what the other five smaller countries in the world are? Here goes the list: Vatican, Monaco, Nauru, Tuvalu and San Marino.

Its capital is Vaduz. A doll town, with half a dozen streets, ruled by a monarch of the royal family who lives in a fairy-tale castle on the hill. In two hours you will have traveled the city from end to end. You will have visited the neo-Gothic cathedral, the Government Palace, the House of Parliament, and the City Hall. It is worth entering the Museum of Modern Art with Botero sculptures, the Ski Museum and the Stamp Museum. Have lunch there or have a coffee and you will have seen it all. If you walk a little more you will end up in a plantation of grapes.

This is a nice country to combine with a trip to Innsbruck (Austria), for example, the route between the two cities is two hours by train passing through beautiful places. If you go during the winter with everything covered in snow, its even more beautiful. You can arrive from Switzerland, Zurich is 110 kilometers from Vaduz.

Liechtenstein is much sought after in winter by Europeans for its ski resorts. In fact, the country has tradition in winter sports and has already won many Olympic medals. As for summer, the main activity is to hike trails through the mountains.

Want to learn another curiosity? Liechtenstein has no army and is a very respected neutral country. Isn’t that interesting? A possible dream!
