#TravelTips: Visiting the West Bank

#DICAS DE VIAGEM- VISITANDO A CISJORDÂNIA camila coelho11

Is this name familiar to you? The West Bank? Know where it is? Well this is a small Palestinian territory located between Israel and Jordan. Its spiritual and historical strength is immense, for it was there, in a grotto in the city of Bethlehem, that Jesus Christ was born.

The easiest way to get to the West Bank is from Israel. Only 20 kilometers separate Jerusalem from Bethlehem (West Bank). However, there is a wall that divides the two regions and some check points that can be traversed only by authorized cars. So hire a taxi driver to lead you along such exciting paths that have helped write a lot of the Bible story.

In one day you can visit Bethlehem, Jordan River, Jericho and the Dead Sea. It’s all close. Begin at Bethlehem. Go to Manjedoura Square, visit the Chapel of the Shepherds where the arrival of the Baby Jesus was announced, go through the Church of the Nativity that was built on the cave where Jesus Christ was born and also include in your itinerary the Grotto of Milk , where He was breastfed until the age of two. Impossible not to get excited! They are sacred places that have an inexplicable force in the air.

From Bethlehem go to the Jordan River. It was exactly where the waters of the river meet with the Dead Sea that Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist. Many people go to this place to do a collective baptism in the river. The structure is well assembled and clothes are available for the ceremony on the river that borders on Jordan. Only a rope separates Jordan from the West Bank.

From there, cross the Judean Desert to the beach of Qalya on the Dead Sea and have fun trying to sink into salt-saturated waters rich in minerals. You will not be able to sink! You will float for as long as you want. Take advantage and buy several wonderful beauty products. On the way back, take a walk through the Qumran caves where the Dead Sea manuscripts were found.

Lastly, explore Jericho, the city considered the oldest in the world and where the Mount of Temptations is located. Get on the cable car, the mountains are incredible.

This is a trip full of spiritual and religious significance. They are shocking Biblical places that generate much reflection. Have you ever considered going there?
