From the Runway to StreetStyle: Feathers!

It was in the summer of 2017 that Miuccia Prada brought feathers to the Italian runway of Prada.  There were skirts, cropped tops, dresses and sets of Japanese inspiration with the material applied to the hemlines, bringing a light boudoir feel, chic and unpretentious. Until then, the plumages had little space in the urban fashion, but, from this presentation, fashionistas gave start to the looks elaborated with details in pieces that matched with more basic items, like white shirts and jeans. The contrast between these elements was gaining great proportions in a short time, until they made them friendly to the eyes and members of the street style.

In addition to the evolution in the day-to-day wardrobe, feathers went through a revival glam in night ensembles. In Camila’s look, a composition that brings a strapless dress with a generous neckline covered by feathers. Notice how this detail, besides being sophisticated, also has a cool touch. As for my look, which has a shirt and tailored pants, there is an application of the material on the cuffs and on the tip of the foulard collar. A way of adding the trend in more casual proposals.

On the most recent catwalks, the feathers show that they remain stronger and unbeatable – especially in relation to what we can call impactful ensembles. For Loewe, Jonathan Anderson kept a volume of them in the shape of a vest over a satin fabric shirt. Meanwhile, at Prabal Gurung, the sports look brought the applications as a transforming element and to give a new tone to the monochrome piece – remember the importance of mixing textures in looks of the same color?

Among the evening desires, Oscar de La Renta and Ralph & Russo showed their refined bets. The first invested in the feathers in a contour that goes from the bust to one of the sides, creating a delicate and superfeminine asymmetry. Af for the English designer, there are embroideries located on the shoulders, sleeves and part of the skirt of the dress. The encounter between the fabrics of the same nude-pink palette is also a point of elegance of the piece.

And of course we could not forget about the series of full black looks, with the idea of renewing what we know about the “little black dress.” Tom Ford’s eighteenth-century aesthetics combined satin slipdress with lace and a voluminous jacket covered in feathers. In Guo Pei’s collection, the more feathers the better! The dress still brings ruffles and a maxi flower with embroidered points.

What is your favorite version to wear this trend? There are plenty of inspirations to create day or night productions.

XoXo, Alice.

Sou apaixonada por plumas! Na minha opinião, se bem dosadas, transformam qualquer look. Sem falar na sensação de aconchego que as roupas com esse tipo de aplicação passam!
