Whether it is in a classic format or with some adaptations, the aviator sunglasses are always in the fashionistas sights. The model developed in the 1930’s after a general of the United States air forces had a serious problem in the retina because of the sun’s rays. He ordered a choice of glasses that had high eye protection. The version developed was inspired by the first masks for airplane pilots, with power to block and reflect a large percentage of visible light and UV rays. Triangular shaped with rounded sides went far beyond functionality. Today, fashion has already developed sophisticated, modern and super feminine adaptations to wear on a daily basis.

And there are incredible options, that go back to the original or follow the structure, but with some innovations. Here are two examples! Camila chose the Dior So Real, which has cutouts close to the frame and has a more oval profile with the aviator renewed. My Diordesertic has mirrored lenses, turtle acetate and hand-applied rivets.

On the runways, the brands brought glasses with the most diverse combinations. Both Tod’s and Dior opted for washed-out yellow lenses, a trend that is growing more and more among the sunglass collections. The accessories bring a young and modern look to transform casual ensembles.

Gucci and 3.1 Phillip Lim labels also followed the movement of the colored lenses. The Italian led by Alessandro Michele opted for the marine tone in contrast to the silver metal of the structure, with double bridge, while the North American brought the greenish shade in the mask format.

And the wave also followed for the prescription glasses. In Gucci’s 2018 Resort, the thicker black frame created a geek, sporty and retro mix. In Céline, the pink lens appears minimalist, with only metal in the bridge and stems.

I love it and I truly believe that glasses completely transform the look. Each mood asks for the right version. And, thankfully, the aviator is one of the most versatile and elegant.
