Who is down to go to the “end of the world” raise your hand! Well, I’m going to tell you that Leonardo de Caprio has already gone and made a damn noise when he went there. During the recording of the movie “The Revenant” was set of footage in the mountains of Ushuaia, Patagonia Argentina, and the star stayed in the trendy Arakur Hotel for a long period.
This is one of the best hotels to enjoy the southernmost city in the world, that is, the end of the world. There’s only water, ice and penguins ahead. Which, by the way, are too cute. It is of unparalleled sympathy.
The Arakur hotel’s location is privileged for an adventure in southern Argentina. It stands on top of a hill in the Cerro Alarken Nature Reserve, 10 minutes from the city’s downtown. (A van from the hotel makes this hourly route. You will not be stranded on the mountain.) The view is sensational! On one side the Beagle Channel and other large mountains with snowy peaks and glaciers that can be seen by the windows of either the lobby, the restaurant, the pool or the rooms. Incidentally, this pool is one of the highest points of the hotel. It is heated, has several hydromassage points, infinity edge of 250 meters above the bay and the underwater soundtrack can be heard when the person enters swimming from the outside part to the inside part, where is the spa and the sauna are located.
Its architecture mixes wood, lots of glass and rocks. Even in the marble floor there are fossils embedded. Fireplaces give a huge warmth on cooler days. Great to have a good Argentinian wine before enjoying dinner in the restaurant which is very good.
The hotel is beautiful and is part of the select group of The Leading Hotels of the World. It has 117 very cozy rooms with a glass panel that makes the separation for the bathroom. The internet is great. A breath for the end of the world. Lol
Ushuaia is a cool place to go year-round. Between May and September is great for anyone who wants to ski. In the other months it is ideal to hike to the lakes and glaciers, to navigate the Beagle Channel, to ride the train of the end of the world, to visit the National Park of Tierra del Fuego and to go to the island of the penguins. I went at the end of March and loved the temperature. Ushuaia are who was responsible for organizing my tours.
