We can risk that there is a unanimity among fashionistas in relation to the use of brightness in visuals. After all, regardless of style, it can be used in clothes and accessories in several ways. Whether in compositions that bring sequin, crystals, chains, lurex threads or metallic tablets, the aesthetics will always bring a glam and powerful vibe, even without faithfully following an eighteenth century appearance. The decade was marked by presenting free forms to use brilliant productions from head to toe. After a period dominated by normcore, during the 1990s, sparkles pieces came back with full force in the 2000s, in proposals used, mainly, by pop divas.
Today, there is a freedom to explore new ways of wearing the trend. And it’s incredible how we can see, not just a mere detail, but a piece as a true protagonist. Here, Camila and I choose impact items, each inside their mood. While she invested in a long transparent covered by glitter, in an elegant mix with turtleneck knitwear blouse, my statement element was the blazer with Balmain sequin embroidery. Notice how it was a way to upgrade the black and white look composed of a shirt and long skirt. I chose a transformative key piece to place over my shoulders. It completely changed the neutral vibe and gave a touch of glamour and power in the right dose.
On the runway, the idea appears in different ways – and all are surprising. For Isabel Marant, the embroidered dress has different metallic materials. On the feet, leather boots with tacks are the ideal cool complement. At Michael Kors, a special effect transformed the piece, being more homogeneous in relation to the shiny layer at the top and more spaced out closer to the bottom.
For Givenchy’s haute couture, the metallic gave the touch of grace in the oversized scales blazer and, on the skirt, around flower designs. In the same season in Fall 2019, Armani Privé presented a jacket with a pierced closure to be the protagonist of the look.
Respecting the DNA of the always glamorous Balmain, Olivier brought an all black look, compounded by black velvet clochard jacket and pants, with light points marked by lurex threads. Meanwhile, Anthony Vaccarello brought an interpretation of shine to Saint Laurent with black pads on it’s striking shoulder jacket.
I love the idea of how some clothes are considered real jewels. In fashion, several maisons are known for investing their savoir faire in statement items, based on charming and unforgettable aesthetics.
