Do you want to slow down, recharge your batteries, live peaceful days surrounded by an exuberant and untouched nature? Then think of a deserted beach with white sand in the south of Bahia, full of coconut trees, on the route of the Humpback Whales, between Ilhéus and Itacaré, in the middle of an environmentally protected region, where a Relais & Chateaux resort is nestled, right on the sand, sophisticated and very isolated. You will feel like entering your own beach house when you choose one of the 38 bungalows, each one built on a wooden platform by the sea. Elegant, spacious, well-lit, and very exclusive. All of them have private balconies and are far apart from each other. A perfect refuge for this moment that still calls for care and social isolation. The bungalows have beautiful decor, huge rooms, beds with mosquito nets, bathrooms with double sinks and showers, amenities that I adore from L’Occitane au Brésil, and offer a Nannacay straw bag to be used by guests during their stay.
Txai is a mature and spectacular resort, with a great responsibility regarding the environmental issues of the region. It embraces several beautiful educational projects with the objective of preserving the local fauna and flora, at the ICT, Instituto Companheiros do Txai. This alone deserves our respect and applause. But it goes beyond.
I loved the Shamash Healing Spa. Going up the stairs that lead to the top of the hill is like going up to paradise. The view of Itacarezinho beach from the top is simply breathtaking. The 4 kilometer long beach can be seen in all its extension. The heated pool in the spa is another highlight. You’ll only want to leave if you have to do one of the many treatments offered by the extremely kind staff.
The days at Txai are spent leisurely between walks on the beach, lots of coconut water, good drinks at the pool bar, and long chats at the restaurants, where you can’t miss the authentic Bahian moqueca.
Don’t miss a dip in the Tijuípe Waterfall which is only 5 kilometers from Txai and has two delicious waterfalls. To enjoy beaches full of tranquility I recommend Patizeiro, Engenhoca, Havaizinho and Camboinha, which are also close to Txai. The city of Itacaré is 20 kilometers from the resort and is worth visiting its historical center. But don’t be too long and get back to the peace of this haven called Txai.
