Typically when you think about sequins, you picture them for a fancy night out or New Year’s Eve. But in 2019 sequins have come a long way, and are now being worn from day-to-night, both dressed up and dressed down. For daytime, sequins got a casual makeover and are being worn with everything from t-shirts to sneakers. And for after dark, they’re being worn in the more traditional way with full glam makeup looks, heels, and evening bags.

The key to pulling off sequins during the day is to pair them with something casual—like a plain t-shirt, utility pants (like the photo below), jeans, or sneakers. This instantly makes the sequined piece feel less formal, and gives your look a fun twist. Plus, the way the sunlight reflects off sequins is so beautiful (and photogenic!). Styling sequins for the evening is a bit easier, just add heels and a fun lip color and your outfit is complete.
