That Punta del Este is the most trendy, chic and avant-garde place in Uruguay is nothing new. But what many people do not know is that the rural area around the resort began to steal the scene with the production of wine and has even earned the nickname of “Uruguayan Tuscany.” Yes, Uruguay is producing wines! It’s wonderful!!!!

Want to live a surreal experience, covered in “wows” from start to finish? Then, visit Bodega Garzón, one of the most impressive wineries I’ve ever had a chance to meet.

After driving 65 kilometers from Punta along the picturesque roads of Uruguay, I came upon an imposing gate near Pueblo Garzón, a village that was forgotten after the train line was abandoned, until the ambitious project of a couple of Argentines from the oil field (and who already had a tradition in the world of wine in Mendoza). What a place!!!! Modern, cute, bold. Moreover, besides producing excellent wines, it focuses on sustainability.

The architectural project of the headquarters, inaugurated in 2016, at the top of the hill, is jaw-dropping. Perfect for tasting the wines produced in a terroir blessed by the breeze that comes from the Atlantic Ocean (the sea is less than 20 kilometers away), among them, the famous Tannat which already has more significant production than in France, native region of the vine.

To enjoy the Bodega Garzón well, schedule a lunch in the restaurant menu signed by Francis Mallmann (he also has his own restaurant in Pueblo Garzón, the Garzón Restaurante). All the dishes we ordered came impeccable. An excellent restaurante. Not to mention the view you have of the glass windows. Oh, be sure to schedule a vineyard tour with tastings.

If Uruguay was already trendy in the summer with its beaches and its busy nightlife, now it’s also gaining appeal for a visit in the colder months. Now you can see why there are plenty of reasons to include Uruguay in your travel itinerary. Write down the tip.

I wish you all a blessed week!

XoXo
