Hello everyone!

That the Caribbean has that inviting turquoise blue ocean is nothing new, right?!  But there are some hidden places that are worth exploring. The island of Virgin Gorda, which is part of the British Virgin Islands, is one of them. The island is very small, despite being the third largest of the archipelago formed by 50 islets. To give you an idea, only 4,000 people live there. And in terms of natural beauty, they are privileged. Imagine that in the northwest part of the island there are caves called The Baths formed by gigantic granite rocks that form real labyrinths full of natural pools inside. It’s a magical place with an unbelievable energy!!! The kind that make it worth the trip!!!

This region of the Virgin Islands (both British and American) is all volcanic. So it is famous for having beautiful beaches. Many people rent sailboats to sail the islands. Therefore, it is considered the “world capital of navigation”. They say there are more boats to rent than available hotels, and I think it’s true. The amount of yachts and sailboats is amazing.

To get to Virgin Gorda from Miami, there are flights with layovers in St. Thomas (US Virgin Islands). Yes, Virgin Gorda is tiny but has an airport! It is also easy to go by ferry from Tortola (capital of the British Virgin Islands) lasting 30 minutes. That was my choice.

Arriving there, hire a driver to explore the whole island. You can circulate everything in one day. Include in your itinerary a stop at the Hogs Heaven View, another stop on the beautiful Savannah Bay, a visit to the ruins of the former Copper Mine, at the village Spanish Town and stay at least two hours (or more) at The Baths and Spring Bay, the unmissable beaches that stand side by side among dozens of gigantic rocks.

I did a bounce back from Tortola and it was perfect. I suggest staying at the basic hotel Maria’s By the Sea, next to the harbor, you can walk there. It is super convenient to sleep one night there before leaving for another Caribbean island.
