Innsbruck is a fairytale town in the Tyrol region. It has beautiful buildings with Baroque and Gothic architecture, on the banks of the Inn River and is surrounded by mountains with more than 2 thousand meters of altitude. Some of them can be accessed by cable car from the center. The structure for skiing or snowboarding is sensational, after all, it has hosted two editions of the Winter Olympics. Innsbruck has over 130 kilometers of ski resorts spread across six areas with approximately 60 cable cars. The ski season runs from December to March. You still have time enjoy it.
In addition, the center of Innsbruck can’t be more charming. Wherever you look you have an old and delicate facade. One of the largest postcards in the city is the Golden Roof, a part of what remained of the residence of Emperor Maximilian I in the 15th century. He was an important figure in the history of Tyrol, since he transformed Innsbruck into an imperial city. A luxury!
Another luxury is the Museum of Swarovski Crystals. It is super contemporary and innovative, with touches of eccentricity. The museum is 15 kilometers from the downtown and is worth a visit. It has several rooms of soft lighting with works of artists like Niki de Saint Phalle and Andy Warhol always evidencing the power of the crystal. A must see.
