It was in the ’70s that quiet hippie stronghold exploded and never stopped. Ibiza entered the radar of the most fun people on the planet… and you know what? Today it receives super censored parties of the European summer, from Monday to Monday, non stop. The parties take place day and night with DJ’s like David Guetta, Alok and Calvin Harris. Between one party and another, the rest is on account of the waves of the sea, either in one of the many lively beach clubs or on some quiet beach (where nudism is ok). Getting to Ibiza is easy. A flight of less than an hour connects Barcelona, Valencia or Madrid to the island. At the airport, rent a car, it’s essential. Choose to stay in the outskirts of the old city of Ibiza – which in Catalan is called Eivissa – for being central to the main points of interest. The city is so cute. All walled up, full of pretty alleys with historic buildings, it has good restaurants and was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. A nice hotel within the walls of Ibiza is the Dalt Vila, with the Relais & Chateaux label. If you want a super-exclusive hotel, I recommend the Nobu Ibiza Bay. It opened recently and is the most acclaimed hotel on the island. It has 152 carefully decorated apartments and the restaurant goes without saying – Amazing! But if your mood points to tranquillity, check out the Hacienda Na Ximena hotel, on a cliff in Sant Miquel, north of the island.

The most popular are Pacha (where the traditional 70’s style Flower Power takes place); Ushuaia Club (with crazy poolside parties from 4 pm into the night); Circoloco (an insane party every Monday in the DC-10); Hi (which hosts David Guetta at F*** me I’m Famous!); and so on…
There are many beautiful Ibiza beaches. My favourite is Platges de Comte, a divine blue and where the Ashram restaurant is located and super crowded at sunset, even though it’s very simple. Cala Bassa is also very blue, and has the Cotton Beach Club, where lunch is worth having. Other cool beaches are Sa Caleta, Cala D’Hort (where the iconic Es Vedrá is located – one of the most magnetic spots on earth), Cala Gració, Cala Salada…
From Ibiza, take the chance to make a round trip to the neighbouring island of Formentera, which is tiny, quieter and very, very blue. Go by ferry.
