Have you ever heard of Península de Maraú? Well, if the name of this secret haven hasn’t reached your ears yet, get ready to hear about it soon. After all, its natural beauty has been winning the hearts of Ivete Sangalo, Neymar, Marina Ruy Barbosa, Luciano Huck, Angélica, and so on…
It is no coincidence that this little piece of land, only 50 kilometers long, bathed by the open sea on one side and the Bay of Camamu on the other, between Ilhéus and Salvador, is nicknamed the “Bahian Polynesia”. The Maraú Peninsula is one of the most beautiful and best preserved areas in southern Bahia. And it was exactly on the Taipu de Fora beach that the Boutique Hotel Villa Kandui was recently inaugurated. A hotel right on the sand, with an incredible atmosphere, surrounded by coconut trees, in front of the famous natural pools that dance according to the movement of the tide, and with only 7 accommodations that make anyone feel at home.
But do you know what caught my attention the most? The respect for the environment. The Villa Kandui project was designed without touching the native coconut trees, the wood from its construction was reused, the sewage has ecological treatment and the amenities are biodegradable. A tremendous care for nature. A point that we need to value a lot.
To get to Villa Kandui, the closest airport is in Ilhéus. There are 120 kilometers, 70 of which are on paved roads and the rest on a dirt road. The trip takes just under two hours. Rent a car to have the freedom to explore the Peninsula. Be aware that private planes land at the airport of the former Kiaroa Hotel, which is now closed.
Now write down the best tips of the Maraú Peninsula. Discover the beaches of Taipu de Fora, Três Coqueiros and Ponta do Mutá, the last one has an unmissable sunset. Go by boat to the Tremembé Waterfall that flows into the Camamu Bay. Catch some waves with a good surf teacher. Do stand up paddle on the Carapitangui river and have lunch at Ro’s Bar. Go snorkeling in the natural pools, especially during the full moon. Ride an ATV along the Trail of Bromeliads. Walk through the village of Barra Grande, which is charming with its sandy streets.
Ah! Know that Paralelo 14, famous for its mystical energy, the one that passes through Machu Picchu and Alto Paraíso, also passes through the Maraú Peninsula. It’s a super energy spot on the planet.
With this magical energy I wish you a wonderful week.
