Those many layers of raw ice of the famous Patagonian glaciers piqued my curiosity and managed to lead me to the Argentinian Patagonia. Did you know that Patagonia occupies a huge region in southern Chile and Argentina? It is so vast that it is like a country within two countries. Argentina’s part alone is equivalent to 900,000 square kilometers, which corresponds to one third of the country’s total area. It’s a lot. And it is too beautiful!
For my debut, I chose the city of El Calafate as a base to explore the Glaciers National Park, which is home to around 300 glaciers. The most famous one is Perito Moreno, declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco. All that remains is to say that I fell in love with El Chaltén completely and I want to go back to see more of the region, which is located two hundred kilometers from El Calafate and is known as the “National Trekking Capital”.
he good news is that the new Explora lodge is set to open its doors in El Chaltén in September 2021. It will be the perfect base for anyone looking to visit both sides of Patagonia on a unique trip from the Explora El Chaltén in Argentina , to Explora Torres del Paine, in Chile.
